Sierra Nevada Knock Off

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is probably the defining beer of the American Pale Ale Style.  I cannot wait to try the real thing, but until then I'll have to do with the knock off.

I find this beer is really well balanced and full flavoured.  The original recipe that I based this off was from the brewery by way of the Northern Brewer forum before it was redesigned.

  2. I also wanted to say I really appreciate your site - the Amarillo based ale has been a hit with my gluten-free friends. Even with double the maltodextrine added by mistake - maybe that's an improvement - I haven't tried with the normal amount :)

  3. Hi BrewMan, I'm new to homebrewing and will be doing lots of GF (Coeliacs in the family). It seems most of your brews are Sorghum Syrup based, do you do any partial / all grain beers and do you have any tips. It might be easier to email, but I couldn't find a "contact" on you blog. Is there one? or perhaps a FB site that I can PM you through? Cheers Tim. (I'm from Wagga, NSW)

    1. Hi Tim,

Yes, I just brew beers off Sorghum syrup. A few times I've thought about partial or all grain but I've decided that I don't think it's worth the effort. I have never been bowled over by an all grain gluten free beer.

If you haven't already, hit this bloke up on facebook. He's well versed in all grain gluten free beers. https://www.facebook.com/grants.homebrew/

  4. Great blog! I have tried to brew gluten free beer and it’s ok, but I get a metallic taste and I have read that it’s very common when you use Sorghum, how you get rid of that?
